Kick-off Meeting of the RuralTour

“The RuralTour: A Training Program For Sustainable Rural Tourism” project submitted by Trabzon Ortahisar Municipality within the scope of the 2020 Erasmus+ Programme (Vocational Education Strategic Partnerships) was entitled to receive grant support. According to the contract signed between Ortahisar Municipality and the Turkish National Agency, the project with a budget of 258,456 Euros will be implemented between 31.12.2020 -30.12.2022 and the project partners consist of 8 institutions/organizations from 6 countries. The institutions that joined the partnership with the coordination of Trabzon Ortahisar Municipality are Almeria University - Spain, Bucharest University of Economic Studies - Romania, Momentum Marketing Services Limited - Ireland, Latvia Countryside Tourism Association - Latvia, Federturismo Confindustria - Italy, Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism- Turkey and Akçaabat Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School -Turkey.

The main goal of the RuralTour project is to contribute to the goals of sustainable rural tourism at the European level by developing the skills of business owners, managers, employees, VET students and potential entrepreneurs in the rural tourism sector with an innovative and easily accessible training program.

In order to achieve the aim of the project, it is aimed to create a rural tourism sector report, training material, e-learning program, set of good practices, e-learning program mobile applications and various training activities for the stakeholders in the rural tourism sector.

1 st Transnational Project Meeting, which was the project kick-ff meeting, was held on 19.02.2021 as a virtual meeting under the coordination of Trabzon Ortahisar Municipality. In the meeting held, the representatives of the institutions met, introduced their institutions and cities, as well as the project coordinator Trabzon Ortahisar Municipality gave information about the project implementation process to the project partners and made plans for the activities in the following period. The second transnational meeting of the project is planned to be held in Romania at the end of May 2021, hosted by the University of Bucharest.
